เอไอเอส ปักธง ผู้นำนวัตกรรมเครือข่าย IoT เพื่อการพัฒนาประเทศ ก้าวล้ำไปอีกขั้น ประกาศเปิดตัวเครือข่ายอัจฉริยะ eMTC หรือ enhanced Machine-Type Communication ครอบคลุมทั่วประเทศ เป็นรายแรกของไทย โดยพร้อมให้บริการทันที (Live Network) หลังจากที่เดือนพฤษภาคม 2561 เอไอเอสได้เปิดให้บริการเครือข่าย NB-IoT หรือ Narrow Band Internet of Thing ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ทั่วประเทศ เป็นรายแรกของไทย และเป็นเพียงรายเดียวที่ได้ให้บริการเชิงพาณิชย์แบบครบวงจรแล้ว กับองค์กรภาคเอกชนและภาครัฐ รวมถึงมหาวิทยาลัยและหน่วยงานวิจัยด้าน IoT แล้ว อาทิ บริษัท ปตท., พร็อพเพอร์ตี้ เพอร์เฟค, โครตรอน กรุ๊ป (Krotron), มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ เป็นต้น
โดยเมื่อวันที่ 17 สิงหาคม 2561 ที่ผ่านมา GSMA สมาคมผู้ให้บริการเครือข่ายโทรคมนาคมที่มีสมาชิกมากกว่า 800 รายทั่วโลก ประกาศรับรองให้ เอไอเอส เป็นผู้ให้บริการ ที่มีทั้งโครงข่าย eMTC และ NB-IoT ครอบคลุมทั่วประเทศ เป็นรายแรกและรายเดียวในไทย
จุดเด่นของเครือข่าย eMTC หรือ enhanced Machine-Type Communication ของเอไอเอส อาทิ
1. สามารถรับ/ส่งข้อมูลระหว่างอุปกรณ์ที่มีการเคลื่อนที่ได้ เช่น Connected Car, Tracking,
2. สามารถรับ/ส่ง ข้อความเสียง สำหรับอุปกรณ์ IoT รูปแบบใหม่ๆ ในอนาคต
3. สามารถรับ/ส่งข้อมูลขนาดใหญ่กว่าเครือข่าย NB-IoT
4. ใช้พลังงานต่ำ เมื่อเทียบกับการส่งข้อมูลด้วย 4g หรือ 3g
จุดเด่นเครือข่าย Narrow Band IoT ของเอไอเอส อาทิ
1. สนับสนุนการใช้พลังงานไฟฟ้าต่ำ จึงช่วยทำให้อายุการใช้งานแบตเตอรี่ของอุปกรณ์ IoT อยู่ได้นานถึง 10 ปี
2. สามารถรองรับปริมาณอุปกรณ์ IoT ได้สูงสุดในระดับแสนตัวต่อสถานีฐาน
3. รัศมีครอบคลุมของเครือข่ายต่อสถานีฐาน กระจายได้มากกว่า 10 ก.ม. รวมถึงในตัวอาคารก็ยังรับสัญญาณได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ
4. สามารถพัฒนาเครือข่ายให้เปิดบริการ IoT ได้อย่างรวดเร็ว เพราะออกแบบอุปกรณ์ให้ใช้ร่วมกับ โครงข่าย 4G ในปัจจุบันได้
นายเกรียงศักดิ์ วาณิชย์นที หัวหน้าคณะผู้บริหารด้านเทคโนโลยี เอไอเอส กล่าวว่า “การขยายเครือข่าย eMTC ให้ครอบคลุมทั่วประเทศ ถือว่าสำเร็จลุล่วงตามแผนงานที่เราได้ประกาศไว้ว่าจะเร่งขยายเครือข่ายให้แล้วเสร็จภายในไตรมาส 3 ของปีนี้ การมีเครือข่าย eMTC จะช่วยเพิ่มศักยภาพและความแข็งแกร่งในการให้บริการ IoT ไปอีกขั้น เนื่องด้วย eMTC สามารถใช้ควบคู่กับ NB-IoT ได้ และมีคุณสมบัติมาเสริมซึ่งกันและกัน อาทิ eMTC เหมาะกับการใช้งาน IoT แบบเคลื่อนที่ เช่น Connected Car รวมถึงสามารถรับ/ส่ง ข้อความเสียงในอุปกรณ์ IoT ยุคใหม่ๆได้อีกด้วย ในขณะที่ NB-IoT จะเน้นเรื่องการประหยัดพลังงานของอุปกรณ์และสามารถสื่อสารได้ในระยะไกล

GSMA accredited AIS as Thailand’s first and only service provider to offer eMTC and NB-IoT networks covering nationwide and ready for commercial
(21 August 2018) AIS as leader in IoT innovation for national development has advanced further by launching Thailand’s first intelligent network eMTC (enhanced Machine-Type Communication) operable nationwide and ready for service (live network). Last May, AIS introduced Narrow-Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) and became the first and only service provider to offer full-scaled commercial services with nationwide coverage. AIS partners in IoT comprise private and public organizations, universities and R&D departments including PTT, Property Perfect, Krotron Group and Thammasat University.
On August 17, 2018, GSM Association (GSMA), representing more than 800 mobile-network operators worldwide, accredited AIS as the first and only service provider in Thailand who obtains both eMTC and NB-IoT networks with nationwide coverage.
The benefits of eMTC by AIS include:
1) Send/receive data between mobile devices such as connected cars and tracking
2) Send/receive voice messages from new IoT-enabled devices in the future
3) Send/receive large amount of data that exceeds NB-IoT capacity
4) Low power consumption when compared to sending data via 4G or 3G
The benefits of NB-IoT by AIS:
1) Support low power consumption, keeping IoT battery life up to ten years
2) Support IoT-enabled devices as many as 100,000 units per base station
3) Operating range exceeds 10 km per base station. Signals remain strong even inside the building.
4) Welcome IoT services instantly and compatible with 4G network and devices
